The Live Activity view lets you see what’s happening on your website right now. Watch visitors land on your pages, interact with your content, and move through your site — all in real time.
This is especially helpful when you’re testing a new campaign, verifying tracking setup, or just want to understand how people are engaging with your site at this very moment.
What You’ll See
When Live Activity is open, you’ll see every visitor session as it happens — including where they’re coming from and which page they’re on.
Each visitor event appears as an entry in the timeline. You’ll see:
- Country flags for visitor locations
- Referrer links (for example, Facebook or direct traffic)
- Page paths the visitor viewed
- Timestamps showing when each event occurred
The activity list updates in real time as new visitors arrive and interact with your site.
Page and Visitor Activity
On the right-hand side of the Live Activity view, you’ll find a quick summary:
- Visitor Activity shows the number of active visitors on your site and distinguishes between new and returning visitors.
- Page Activity lists how many pages are currently being viewed.
- Event Activity summarizes all recent events, such as page views or other tracked interactions.
You can use these summaries to quickly gauge site traffic without leaving the page.
Filtering Activity
By default, Live Activity shows everything happening on your site.
To focus on specific users or events, use the Filter by search box.
You can:
- Filter by visitor ID or event type
- Combine multiple filters to narrow down what’s displayed
- Easily return to viewing All Activity with a single click
This makes it easy to zoom in on a specific visitor journey or campaign interaction while still keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
Pausing and Viewing Details
Hover over any entry in the feed to pause the real-time updates.
This allows you to take a closer look at the details — such as where the visitor came from and what page they’re on — without losing your place.
Move your mouse off the entry to resume the live feed.
Timing and Event Updates
When you create a new event, it will appear in Live Activity once it’s:
- Been triggered at least once on your site, and
- Successfully sent to Crazy Egg.
This typically happens within a few seconds — rarely longer than a minute or two.
Why Use Live Activity
Use Live Activity to:
- Confirm new events are firing correctly
- Monitor traffic spikes in real time
- Watch how visitors from specific sources (like social ads) behave immediately after clicking
- Validate tracking setups during implementation or testing
It’s your instant window into what’s happening across your site right now.
