How to Set Up Web Analytics in Crazy Egg

Crazy Egg Web Analytics gives you a real-time, visual overview of who’s visiting your website, where they’re coming from, and how they behave once they land. Setup is quick, no configuration required, and no technical background.

Step 1: Add the Crazy Egg Tracking Script to Your Site

To start collecting data, you’ll need to install the Crazy Egg tracking code.

You can do this in one of three ways:

  • Manually paste the script just before the </head> tag on each page of your site.
  • Use a tag manager, like Google Tag Manager.
  • Install through your CMS or website builder using one of our step-by-step guides:

Step 2: Start Collecting Data

Once your script is live, Crazy Egg will automatically start tracking traffic and behavior. Most sites begin seeing data in the dashboard within a few minutes.

To test your setup, visit your site in an incognito/private window and refresh a few times.

Step 3: Click Into Any Metric to Explore Deeper

The Web Analytics dashboard displays the top 6 results in every major category: traffic sources, referrers, devices, browsers, pages, UTM campaigns, and more.

Click any card to explore the full list, uncover long-tail insights, and spot patterns across visitor segments.
