Google Analytics Import — Overview

Crazy Egg’s Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Import allows you to connect your GA4 property and view select Google Analytics data inside Web Analytics.

This feature provides a simplified view of your GA4 data without requiring you to log into Google Analytics.

What Data Is Imported?

When you connect a GA4 property, Crazy Egg imports a defined set of dimensions and metrics supported by Web Analytics.

Only supported data types are requested through Google’s official APIs.

How the Import Works

  • You authorize access to a specific GA4 property.
  • Crazy Egg connects using Google’s secure API.
  • Data is imported in aggregated form.
  • No raw event-level data is stored.
  • No changes are made to your GA4 account.

You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions.

Data Privacy and Security

Crazy Egg does not collect or process personally identifiable information (PII) through GA4 Import.

Specifically:

  • We do not access user-level identifiers such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or user IDs.
  • We do not import custom event payloads that may contain sensitive data.
  • All GA4 data is aggregated and anonymized before display.
  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not share your data with third parties.
  • We do not use your GA4 data for advertising or cross-customer profiling.

Data imported from GA4 is used solely to display reporting within your Crazy Egg account.

All data is transmitted securely using encrypted connections.

Additional Notes

  • Only GA4 properties are supported.
  • Importing GA4 data does not increase tracking load on your website.
  • Reporting differences between GA4 and Crazy Egg may occur due to sampling, configuration differences, or metric definitions.

For more information about reporting differences, see: Why Google Analytics numbers may look different in Crazy Egg Web Analytics.
