Why does this happen?
Have you ever noticed a “flicker” between the control and variant pages? What you are experiencing is what is referred to as a flicker. You will see the control and then see it quickly change to the variant. This occurs when a site takes a little longer to load.
How to Resolve this Situation
INSTALLING THE A/B TESTING SCRIPT PROPERLY
- Directly install the code snippet from your A/B testing tool into the header of your site. Please do not use a tag manager, which will cause content flickering.
- Install the script from your A/B testing tool inside the <head> element of the pages on your website. This will ensure that the script is loaded first and prevents flickers.
- Reduce the size of the code snippet by removing any inactive tests.
OPTIMIZE THE LOADING TIME OF YOUR TESTING PAGES
- Use a content delivery network (CDN) to make loading the testing page fast.
- Optimize and compress the images on your page – use PNG format where possible.
Adding a Flicker Code
Contact support and provide them with the test ID and domain name for your testing page. They will provide you with the code specific to your site and test.
