iFrames and Widgets Not Showing Up

Crazy Egg’s User Recordings is a powerful tool used to see how visitors are interacting with your site.

When a web page displays a widget, we cannot display the widget itself nor the interactions. Third-party services usually provide widgets like chat pop-ups, email collection forms, and surveys.

These widgets are displayed using an HTML element called an iFrame. iFrames are a way of embedding a web page into another web page. Due to browser security restrictions, we are prevented from loading an iFrame in a Recording that hosts a page in another domain. We use indirect methods to track the first click into the frame.

I control the iFrame content, not a Third-party

Fantastic, you can then track the content in recordings.

Here’s what you need to do now.

  1. Install the Crazy Egg script from your account inside the iframe.
  2. Contact our support team by providing the root domain.
