How to Set Up Conditional Branching for Surveys

What Is Conditional Branching?

Conditional branching—also called skip logic or branch logic—allows you to tailor the survey flow based on a respondent’s answer. For example: If a respondent selects “Yes,” they’ll see a follow-up question. If they select “No,” they’ll skip ahead. This helps reduce survey fatigue and makes your questions more relevant to each user.

How to Set Up Conditional Branching in Crazy Egg Surveys

From your Crazy Egg dashboard, click on “Surveys.”  You can select an existing survey or create a new one. 

Choose a question type that supports conditional logic (e.g., Multiple Choice). Enter your question and possible answers.

For each answer option, click “Customize Settings” then “Add Logic”.Example:
If the user selects “Yes” → “Show next question”
If the user selects “No” → “Close survey”

Use the Preview tool to test how the survey behaves for different responses. Make sure all logic flows are correct.

Once satisfied with the setup, click Publish Changes to save and launch your survey. Monitor results and adjust logic if needed.
